C6R Debut At Sebring 2005
It didn’t go as planned for the C6.R’s GT1 racing debut at Sebring, but the tenacity of the Corvette Racing team brought the #4 from an extended stop (as a result of contact) into 3rd place for Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta when the checkered flag flew.

Patrick Long and Jörg Bergmeister enjoyed GT2 victory at Sebring in their debut with Petersen / White Lightning. It was a glimpse of what was to come, though the season was not without struggle.

Clint Field LMP2 at Infineon
The first four races of 2005 were a roller coaster ride for Clint Field and included one victory, one DNF and one DNS. Infineon started a span of five races during which Field won four, wresting control of the LMP2 points chase.

Biela / Pirro LMP1 at Infineon
From the results of the first four races, one would have never guessed that Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro would stand atop the LMP1 points at season’s end. Round 5 at Infineon brought the duo their first victory of 2005.

Petersen White Lightning Porsche at Road America
After a debut victory for Patrick Long and Jörg Bergmeister, it would be six races before their second win at Road America. By then, Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas had gained a slight advantage in the GT2 points race.

#2 Champion Audi R8 at Road America
Road America brought the 3rd consecutive victory for Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro in LMP1. By then, the points lead was firmly in their grasp.

Intersport Racing’s Lola B05/40 at Mosport
After Intersport Racing’s Lola B05/40 burned at Road America, Clint Field needed a strong finish to the season to win the LMP2 championship. Step 1 was a victory two weekends later at Mosport.

C6R at Petit Le Mans
Petit Le Mans was the 2nd time the C6.R faced the DBR9 on U.S. soil. On that occasion, Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta stared down the U.K. competition. And with an off day for the #3 C6.R, the #4 duo took firm control of the GT2 points chase.

A victory at Petit Le Mans gave Clint Field an insurmountable lead in the LMP2 championship, given a DNF for his principal rivals in the #10 Courage.

With the LMP1 championship decided in favor of Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro at Petit Le Mans, the pressure was off at Laguna Seca. Nevertheless, the two fought gamely throughout and led on several occasions before settling for 2nd against the blazingly fast Zytek 04S.

Patrick Long and Jörg Bergmeister only needed to score one point at Laguna Seca to secure the GT2 championship. They scored 22 better than that in winning the season finale in dramatic fashion.
